Moonstruck

Welcome friends of the Moon. Lunacy, no longer a favoured term, was also referred to as "of the moon" or "moonstruck". It has been established that at the time of the full moon, humans can lose their grip on what we consider reality. But perhaps "reality" is what loses its grip upon the humans.

Working consciously with the moon when she is full provides an opportunity to glimpse what lies outside what we consider reality.

We live in a consensual reality that our culture has created and continually reinforces as sane and normal. This is not the highest expression of how we live or want to live, yet it persists. Clearly some of our collective beliefs are not serving us.

For us to ask some big questions around our beliefs and create change within ourselves and the world, we must be open to feeling moonstruck.

Under this full moon, I invite you to consider a collective belief you hold. Do not make this belief about yourself. It may be about family, women, men, animals, plants, society. A belief you take for granted. Give yourself some quiet time and space to meditate and contemplate. From a place of an open heart and curious mind, turn your chosen belief upside down and inside out. Interrogate it, question it. Consider how you learnt it, or why you believe it to be true. Consider believing the opposite. Consider the absurd. Let yourself be moonstruck. Consider how this belief shapes society and what impact it has on the world. Is it empowering? Is it helpful? Is it true? Investigate the emotional charge related to your belief. Sometimes you may realise you don't even have enough information to know if your belief is really true at all or not. It is fine to admit simply not to know. After you feel complete with your inner investigation you can choose to keep your belief as it was or to change it as feels true for you. This is freedom of mind and heart.

We have collected so many beliefs through our lives and it is our sacred responsibility to question these. The spotlight of the full moon offers us the opportunity to step outside the safe confines of our beliefs and examine them from all angles.

To fully explore the curated reality we share with others and determine with wisdom the reality we wish to create, we must have courage and be open to feeling moonstruck in the process.

Please feel free to reach out if any insights strike that feel too moonstruck to discuss with others. I am always interested to hear different perspectives.

Blessings of the moon.
